About Us

Who are we?

St Giles was envisaged as a one-stop destination for clients seeking healthcare solutions. The Clinic opened its doors in June 1996, under the ownership of St Giles  (Private) Limited, a wholly indigenous entity registered in terms of Zimbabwe Companies Act (Chapter 190) in 1995.  The company comprised a group of doctors as majority shareholders (65% of total shares), and the then Southampton Assurance Company (35%).  Over time, Southampton Assurance was bought out by the doctors. In 2020, a new company, St Giles Hospital  (Private) Limited, acquired the business under a new shareholding structure that envisages introduction of new doctors as shareholders.Since 1996, the Clinic has sublet consulting rooms to more than 14 doctors within the building. The doctors, in turn, provide services that include, but are not limited to, family medicine, general internal medicine, general surgery and surgical specialities (of ENT, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics, urology, neurosurgery and interventional radiology). These services were supported by comprehensive laboratory, radiology services and pharmacy. These various business units operate independently, but it is envisaged that they provide an efficient and integrated service under one roof.On the ground floor is housed the day care medical and surgical facility, comprising 24-bedded wards for pre- and post-operative care. This was owned and operated by St Giles  Medicare, and now by St Giles Hospital. There are three operating theatres that are fully equipped for day care procedures. The theatres boast of state of the art equipment, reflecting the adoption of a recapitalization program that keeps up with the evolving technologies. The day care facility at the clinic, which mainly offers day care medical and surgical procedures, was a pioneering endeavour at inception and has prevailed despite the socio-economic difficulties that have been experienced in the country.
